Emily's Blue Period by Cathleen Daly
After her parents get divorced, Emily finds comfort in making and learning about art.
Okay** it was interesting because it told about Picasso painting in shades of blue.I liked the part about Emily being in her blue period. My least favorite part when they went out to buy furniture.
***Good! Emily loves art. I love how she relates things in her life back to Pablo Picasso. Her parents are going through a divorce, how does art help Emily make sense of her new life?
**OK It was a quick book to read. I enjoyed how dedicated she was to become an artist. I liked how she forgave her brother and showed us her art project (including her brother's addition!)
****It was great It was about a girl who was in a period in her life where she onley wanted to use blue and I thought it was funny because in one of the pics a boy was picking his nose eww but that was ok because her brother drew on it but she said it looked better that way I thout that was cute
***It was awesome I liked that she said she was in her blue period and that she was only going to use blue I loved the part when she made an art piece and let her brother draw something that meant a lot to him that was so cute.
**Okay I liked when she let her brother add something to a picture. It was cool that she only used blue for that period of time. I would kind of recommend this book.
***Best picture book I like she is wanting to change her name like Pablo Pissacos name. Emily in her class has been learning about collages. Though she did not know at first what to make,she figured out later.She has a blue period which is cool.Even though there parents are apart, they are together.
****Good It was great. I love how she relates stuff to Picasso. It was nice that she allowed her brother to add something to a picture. It was sad that her parents divorced. I would recommend this book.
it was*****great. my favorite part was at the end when Emily did her caloge. and when Emily dad had to pull her brother uot of the mall like a sack of patoas. and the last part she said my blue poried is gone.
**Ok. I like when Emily told her brother that it was okay when he scribbled on her collage. I also like when she was in art class and she had nothing on her paper because she loved both homes. Nothing described both homes with the paper scraps she had.
***Great I enjoyed the book "The Blue Period " because it was about art .One thing I found interesting is that the walls were blue during the Blue period .I would recomend this book to a friend who doesn't Know where home is.
***** Great It all started when emilys parents got divorced she got her blue period.One reson i like this book is because i like art even though i am not good at it.I would recomend to my older sister because she loves art.
*i did not realy like the book.Even if it was about art well i do not like art.And i did not like that her parents was divorse it did not like the book.
******great it was cool it was sad where her prants got dfors in the beging. then she thern blue in the middle of the story. then she drew a big hart at the end of the story. look for it a your school its fun.

***good I recomend reading this book, because you can really relate to this book like if you have devorced parents or you just like yo draw. i liked how she at first was mad at her brother for scribbling on her work but then she remembered that her art teacher said that you need to always add something different to make art complete.
***Good,The book 'Emilys Blue period' because it was funny and I learned from it like what Picasso painted and that he had a blue period.Her parents have a divorce and she gets sad and goes threw a blue period where she only paints things blue.My favorite part was when they went shopping for furniture and the brother hides behind the couch and says that its his fort.
it was about a girl on her blue period a and it was a good blue bonnet her and her brother they want to see how will they can see there mom and dad and they had got there dad stuff and put in there house

It is so sweet that emiley let her brother draw that purple heart.my other part was when her dad told her he painted furniture because he didnt have any so crative.the part where shes in school. It was a good book and the lesson was love is a strong and caring thing.
**** I love this book.Because my mom and my dad got a divorce.But she paints in blue. I like the end put you have to read to find out .I did not know were home was but now i do. so i hope you will read this book and find were home is.
****i really liked the book the blue period. because it talked about the little girl and her brothers parent moved and had two houses and they dad had a lot of blue. at the end the little girl mad a college and felt like she had lost her blue period.
*****Great This book was pretty cool. Even though I outgrew picture books, I would still read this one. My favorite part was when the brother claimed the couch as his 'fort'. I would recommend this book to my younger siblings.
***good i think it was was funny, especially whenever the little brother didn't want to come out from behind the couch. it was also kinda funny when they wouldn't say that they didn't like any of the furniture when their dad was picking out furniture because the dad was moving out. i kinda think she was in her blue period because her dad moved out.
****Great! I would recommand it to a friend! I love how Emily is so artisic and so so so creative. As well as her brother, I liked it when he climbed behind the couch and made it his "fort". I can't remember the artists' name but, I think I've seen some art from him, it just makes it sound so cool! (One last thing, Emily i think she should have her very long name). I would defenitly request this from my library and read it over and over again even though it's a picture book!
i love this book becuse it is fun to read it you will love it. so she whated to pait but her mom will not let her.soher mom only let her pait if she doing a proget

**okay this book didn't real get my attention because it was little boring. i still liked the part when Jack was hiding behind the couch at the store it was super funny. I really thought this book would work with my little cousins and sister.
**** Great.I loved this book.Emily did what ever Pablo Picasso did.Emily was on her blue period but then she made a heart collage as her home.This book was really insparational.
I love this book because me myself i love pecaso in the begning they talk a lot about pecaso and then her parents devors and then she goes throgh her blue period and then they go shopping and then ther art teacher tells them to do a collage but she didnt do it then she made one and then her brother jack put a heart in the middle
emilys blue period was a really inspiring book because my parents divorced too so when i go home i'm going to do the same thing so i'll have both parents with me where ever i go !
*****Great because the girls parents were divorced, and she and her brother wanted to be in something that the whole family did. Also most kids get made when their parents are divorced, but they were not as made and were nice to their mom.
*** This book was good but I think it could of been better because I think they should of said more about her and artists.Besides that I think the book was great! I love this book and if you read it I hope you love it even more!
****Good because i like that she loved art and her favorite artist was on a blue period and so she ended up on a blue period it was interesting at the end.

****Great because Emily loves Pablo Pacaso and how he was sad he wrote in blue. That's why Emily when she was sad she did everything in blue just like Pablo pacaso. She is sad that she has to go back and forth between her mom and dad. she has a hard time thinking of what to put in her collage because of her going back and forth. A t the end of the book she finally gets out of her blue period.
**** liked the part when Emily tried to rename herself.Emily liked pabblo piacasco.Emily made a colage and her little brother scribbled on it she was okay with it.
****Great^.^ I liked Emily because she creative and wants to be an Artist by being inspired by Picasso. Her blue period was pretty depressing to be honest.:/ I recommend this book to A-N-Y-B-O-D-Y who wants to be an Artist.
****great I love this book it is so well written.the pictures are very creative i have never seen pictures like that. My favorite part in the book is when her brother won't get out of his fort which is really just a sofa.I think that Emily is thoughtful because she knows her brother feel the same way and is going through a tough time like her.

***Good I liked the book "Emily's Blue Period" because it showed how art is related to things. Emily loves art, but after her parents get separated, she doesn't do too well in it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is an aspiring artist.
****good I liked the book because, it is interesting how she compared her life to Pablo Picasso. I think the end where she gets mad at her brother for scribbling on her art but realizes he is going threw his blue period like her is very interesting. And expressing her feelings with art is very fun. I like the way she expressed herself with art.
wow...I love the creative book about art.I love the part when the little brother hides behind the couch.I love Emilys heart of home.This book was good to me because it explained about art and creativity.

******GRAET EMILY IS A LITTEIL GIRL AND SHE HAS TO DRAW A PICTOR OF HER HOUSE BUT SHE HAS TWO HOUSES HER DADS AND HER MOMS. EMILY LOVES PACOSOS WORK AND WEN PECOSO WAS SAD HE HAD A BLUE PEREUD SO EMILY IS SO SHE HAS ONE TO I RECUMEMEND THIS BOOK TO PEOPLE WHO LOVE ART.
I like the book because Emily drew a big heart and her little brother drew a purple heart in the middle. I also like the part when Emily had her blue period.The last thing I like and love I is when the little brother uses the couch as a fortruse.
**** I loved when the dad had to get his son off the ground and when she made that big heart. I also like when she was in her blue period. When she was in her blue period she painted in blue.

****Really Great! I love how she used so many colors to express her feelings.When her father moves out she uses only blue. When she takes things from both thier houses to make a cologe and her brother puts a heart to say thats part of my heart that makes me think that she is a good sister.

good*** I liked the book. My favorite part was when she was sad because her parents split and she was relating that to a famous artist named Pablo Picasso and when he was sad he called that his (blue period) read the book to find out more. i wold reccomend this book to a friend if they like things like that!

**Ok It was a very slow book and kind of boring. I liked how some of it rhymed and the painting was but other than that I didn't like the book that much.

She is sad that she has to go back and forth between her mom and dad. she has a hard time thinking of what to put in her collage because of her going back and forth. A t the end of the book she finally gets out of her blue period.

ReplyDeleteI liked Emily because she creative and wants to be an Artist by being inspired by Picasso. Her blue period was pretty depressing to be honest.:/ I recommend this book to A-N-Y-B-O-D-Y who wants to be an Artist.

ReplyDeleteI love this book it is so well written.the pictures are very creative i have never seen pictures like that. My favorite part in the book is when her brother won't get out of his fort which is really just a sofa.I think that Emily is thoughtful because she knows her brother feel the same way and is going through a tough time like her.

ReplyDeleteI liked the book "Emily's Blue Period" because it showed how art is related to things. Emily loves art, but after her parents get separated, she doesn't do too well in it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is an aspiring artist.

I think the end where she gets mad at her brother for scribbling on her art but realizes he is going threw his blue period like her is very interesting. And expressing her feelings with art is very fun. I like the way she expressed herself with art.
