The Scraps Book: Notes from a Colorful Life by Lois Ehlert
A memoir of the life of children's book illustrator and author Lois Ehlert, discussing her childhood, and her career.
****Great! Lois Ehlert shares how she became an artist and how she creates art for her books. I love how there are pieces from her books throughout this book. What is her art technique called? Did she inspire you to try creating art?
*** Good Lois Ehlert writes about her life. Her parents made things with her hands. They taught her to sew and do things in the workshop. I liked it when she talked about her sisters cat. This was a good book!
*****Great I enjoyed learning about her life. It an interesting story on how she chose to become an artist. I was amazed at how many books she has written and illustrated and was surprised how many ideas I never saw, I am glad she pointed them out. I enjoyed this book very much even though it was a picture book.
****Great I like how she uses material from nature and human made items to make beautiful Art. I wish I had a mom and dad like that though I guess I kind of do but to have parents like that would be cool because they don't go to the store to by their products they make 'em themselves. I like the "Mother Nature" thing because in this book she makes it sound like her "Mother" gave her the supplies. Read this book for an insight to the world of an Artist.

****good because the girls parents are cretive one some of the bages the coolers are like in the old days and her mom was creting surssing and her dad liked to paint
*****great It tells about how she started her life as an artist.My favorite part was when she took the picture of the cat.....it was so CUTE. I also liked that whenever she saw something it inspired her. She looks at the world as a true artist would.

****Great! I would recommand it for a friend! I loved how the writer uses scraps from around her house to make art, it just made me feel wonderful to see her recyling some junk into art. Some of the other books she wrote I've read like Chika Chika Boom Boom are amazing, also I like the scrap book feel she made. One last thing is that she got those traits from her parents, when your parents have done that before you, well you love it even more.
**** I loved how it shows how she made a book in the book and how she uses her imagination in most of the book.I also love that it talks about her child hood and how her dad loves to paint and her mom loves do to crafts and she has a little corner of her own where she paints,draws,and does so many more.
I like how she uses her imagination in the book.She talks a lot about how she became a artist.She really likes to do crafts, paint,Draw and do a lot more things. i will posibley read it agin I recomened this book **** Great

***good I love how this author had an artistic eye. Its cool how it had pictures of her house and how her art desk looks like. My favorite part of the book was when it brought up chic a chic a boom boom. I remember that book when I was in kindergarten.

*****great i like all the cool art Lois Ehlert makes in this book.my favorite art in this book is the hand.i like how it goes through her life. its a very inspirational book.i like the part where it says the squirrel slipped into her house that was funny.
***good because it talks about how she use to live and who her parents are and I think it is fairy sweet and it talks about how she always want to write a book of her own and I think it is vary sweet

****I kind of liked the book because it is an artist that copyed pictures.it was a good book.the auther did a really nice job on the painting it was really nice book to read.
*****THe only complaint I have is that the author put in cursive.My favorite part was when I got to see all the cool stuff she put in the book.I love it.

I didn't really paid attention to the words. But I just found the pictures were beautiful she didn't only use one material
